Our first grade enrichment group has been hard at work reading several different versions of
The Three Little Pigs. We compared stories, then made a plan to build a house to withstand the Big Bad Wolf. We learned about engineers, then developed questions, made a plan, created a house, tested it, and improved our design. For our first design, the students chose a bag with mystery materials, then were challenged to build a house using only what was in their bags. This was a good way to learn about building materials and design. The kids could use the materials of their choice for the second design. Ask your child if his/her house held up against the Big Bad Wolf!
