Math - 6.8 - We practiced comparing and ordering fractions today. We made number lines with fractions in our small groups, then used them for today's lesson. We also learned how to compare and order fractions by comparing to 1/2 as a benchmark, comparing common denominators, using common numerators, and using our fraction strips. It's a lot of different methods, and I encouraged the kids to use the one that made the most sense to them.
Science - None - We previewed the vocabulary words for our next lesson, and made vocabulary foldables for our science journals.
Language Arts - None - We completed a spelling and grammar page in class today. We practiced for tomorrow's test on Spelling City, and reread our weekly story. Students also worked on a main idea and details graphic organizer about their ideal pet, then wrote clues about what their ideal pet would be. Tomorrow we will share our writing and see if we used enough details for our classmates to guess. We will also take our reading, spelling, and vocab tests tomorrow.
Social Studies - None - We worked on our daily geography packet. We are learning about map coordinates. We also watched a Discovery Education video on how the USA grew from the original 13 colonies to the 50 states we have today.
